About

JXTA Instant Messenger (JIM) aims to establish a server-free instant messaging system with various options. It features encrypted messaging, presence awareness, and sophisticated search for users. We started to develop this product at the computer-science laboratories at university of hamburg in Oct 2002. At the beginning it was just a prototyp to evaluate the possibilities of the JXTA technologies. At the end of the course, all participants where confident that the spirit may live on as an open-source project. The original Hompage hosted at VSIS can be found here. Since then our team has gained tremendous affords in feature improvment and bug resolvation. Now we are next to a stable release. So check it out!!
